Cons: a bit high-priced for a couple of ounces of PVC and a diaphragm. But you're not just paying for the material, testing had to be completed on these to make sure they function for a extended time keeping sewer gas out of your household. Also, I genuinely wish they would make these in 1.five" as all my non-toilet p-traps and drains are 1.5", in the 3 regions I'm utilizing air admittance valves, space is valuable and I had to waste a handful of inches on a 2" to 1.5" reducer. Note: you do want the valve to be four" larger than horizontal trap run, so it's not like you'd be able to 90 up and go straight to the valve anyway.
Pros: speedy and hassle-free to install.... hassle-free as any other pvc connection.
I'd suggest searching into neighborhood plumbing codes to verify if air admittance valves in common, or this item in particular, are approved substitutes for venting. My neighborhood codes specifically list this item as authorized with a couple of clauses. I have an current 3" cast "major" vent, which qualifies this product for use where adding a vent would call for opening up a lot of wall space, and a handful of other particulars.

.... word to the smart and those not already high on pvc cement: do NOT test the valve by making use of your lungs immediately after you've cemented any fittings or pipe, but just before connecting to existing program.
