Product Description
The Antex Pipemaster Soldering Tool is developed to complement the torch in the tool kit of the plumbing contractor or household improvement enthusiast. With selectable heads, it can be used on all joints with fittings of 1/2, three/8, or three/four inch. It is invaluable when operating in places where a blowlamp is a conceivable hazard or exactly where access is limited (i.e. in roof spaces, below baths or basins, close to decoration or furnishings, near autos, etc.). Make no mistake this is not a crimp tool limited to unique fittings. The Pipemaster solders copper pipe in as little as 10 seconds with standard tin solders (not advised for silver brazing). To make the most of your Pipemaster, make sure the copper pipe ends, and the inside of the couplings, are cleaned to a bright finish with wire wool. Liberally apply flux to all joint surfaces and position the Pipemaster heads so that a fine make contact with is produced all about the circumference of the pipe. Hold the Pipemaster heads about ½ inch from the joint and permit the correct time to heat the joint, and then apply solder. Maintenance is restricted to regular cleaning immediately after use, ensuring exceptional outcomes time soon after time. Right after use, consistently clean off heads with a nylon pad. The heads are removable for cleaning, storage or replacement with a distinct size.

Customer Evaluations
The pipemaster appears to perform OK for the do-it-yourselfer. Someone who only does a couple of jobs just about every when in a although. If you will be making use of it a lot I advocate you upgrade to the pipemaster qualified
Pros
It is uncomplicated to use and functions in tight spaces.
Cons
It is created to heat the pipe and not the fitting so you have to have to make positive the fitting is hot sufficient before soldering.
The heads have no set screw so they can turn on you and have poor heat transfer.
The jaws do not lock closed so and it can take a lot of squeezing to make a connection.
Nice to know
First is it only comes with the 1/2" pipe jaws. If you are doing any other size they are a separate order.
If you are operating with a number of sizes you will have to let it cool down to adjust heads.
Hardware shops now carry a snap connector for copper pipe in T's, elbows, couplings and so on. You just push the pipe into the fitting and it locks there water tight. The fittings are in the $5.00 every range.
This is a fantastic tool. Had it for a although and it works great. Safer than a torch and great for DIY like me. May well not be for Pro's as it take a while to heat up (torch is pretty much instant) but wonderful for DIY plumbing projects.
